NGL, LNG, CTL and GTL Plants

Kentz has been working on natural gas liquids (NGL), liquid propane gas (LPG) and natural gas processing plants since the early 1970s with our first significant projects in Saudi Arabia, Middle East providing electrical, instrumentation, controls and commissioning services for the process plant and also utility and off-sites work including export port facilities and sulphur plants.

Today Kentz provides specialist EPC and construction services for gas processing plants as well as providing plant upgrades for the power, specialist buildings, electrical, controls and instrumentation systems.  Some of these upgrades include online, safe cut over to the new systems which entails extremely detailed planning using experienced teams and tools.  In most cases, the cut over can be achieved without plant shutdown and hence no production interruption.

Kentz has worked on liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects since the 1980s with projects in the Americas (Caribbean), Africa (Egypt and Equatorial Guinea), Middle East (Qatar) and Asia (Sakhalin, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia).  Our experience allows Kentz to work efficiently on several of the key technologies as well as the cryogenic conditions requiring specialist materials and work practices.

Kentz has also worked on coal-to-liquids (CTL) and gas-to-liquids (GTL) and synthetic fuel projects since the 1970s with projects primarily in South Africa, Malaysia and Qatar. These projects have all used client proprietary Fischer-Tropsch synthesis technology. Kentz's experience in this rapidly-evolving technology puts us in good shape for future projects especially CTL, due to the continuing high cost of crude oil.

Kentz provides both a regional and local engineering capability along with our construction division who have executed multimillion man-hour construction projects within the gas processing complexes throughout the Middle East, Africa, Americas, Asia and Europe.  Our local engineering services, construction and commissioning business units comprise of over 10,000 personnel and are available as stand-alone services.

As part of our specialist EPC and construction services, we provide civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, controls & instrumentation, and security & telecommunications packages; early construction facilities including: offices, camps, power, water and telecommunications; utility packages including power, steam, water, gases and flares; and offsite packages solutions including product transfer pipelines, tank farm, port development and expansion.

Kentz plant automation, safety and telecommunications systems group provides totally integrated solutions housed in a modular (or stick-built) building including advanced controls and management information systems which can be fully tested (integrated factory acceptance test) prior to moving to site.  This reduces systems manpower requirements at site as well as helping to reduce schedule during the site commissioning phase.

Due to our continued involvement with the commissioning and start-up support of these plants, many clients prefer to have commissioning service agreements with Kentz to enable our commissioning teams to mobilise quickly, benefiting by already knowing the clients' requirements and procedures, such as installation test reports, operation test reports and handover dossiers.
