Petroleum Refining
Petroleum Refining
Kentz has been working in the petroleum refining industry since the mid 1970s when we first entered the Middle East market, most recently providing specialist EPC and construction services on new refinery projects in the Middle East. Since working on our first refinery project, Saudi Aramco’s Ras Tanura refinery, Kentz has worked on refineries throughout the Middle East, Central America, Africa, Europe and Asia.
Typical Kentz projects include specialist EPC and construction projects where we have provided civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, controls & instrumentation and security & telecommunications packages; early construction facilities including offices, camps, power, water and telecommunications; utility packages including power, steam, water, gases and flares; and offsite packages solutions including product transfer pipelines, refinery and terminal tank farm, port development and expansion.
Kentz plant automation, safety and telecommunications systems group provides totally integrated solutions including advanced controls and management information systems which can be housed in modular or stick-built control and equipment rooms. Kentz plant automation and safety systems group also replace, upgrade or expand installed systems on an EPC basis with careful planning to ensure there are no scheduled process shutdowns.
Engineering facilities for refinery projects can be provided from one of our regional engineering centres or local centre in the country of the refinery. Alternatively, we can set up an engineering and design centre at the refinery complex. This is especially useful for refinery upgrades, de-bottlenecking, expansion and turnaround projects. Our local engineering services, construction and commissioning business units comprise of over 10,000 personnel and are available as stand-alone services.
Kentz provides pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up support services to both the prime contractor (if not Kentz) and owner. Our specialist personnel apply our client’s commissioning software, our own UKen systems or a mix of both, from the planning phase until product qualitative and quantitative milestones have been met.
