Since 1999 Kentz has been active in the communications industry and has to date successfully completed a number of telecommunications projects, most notably in Africa and China. 

Kentz provides engineering and construction turnkey services to GSM operators such as MTN, Celtel and Vodacom. Kentz has worked extensively with Nokia, Ericsson and Huawei equipment.

The success of rollout projects, no matter how large or small, depends on how effectively the execution detail is managed. Focus alone can create the basis for consistently executing at the required level of detail.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Competent and experienced project teams ensure that critical project objectives of quality, cost, and schedule are achieved, whilst providing for a single point of responsibility which simplifies project interfaces and reduces project risk. 

NETWORK PLANNING SURVEYS

Site survey support services are provided for client transmission and radio frequency planning teams.  Qualified structural engineers and experienced technicians fully integrate into clients' engineering planning teams ensuring early site location selections meet the requirements for proposed antenna structures.

PROPERTY SERVICES

Property staff with professional qualifications in architecture and town planning offer extensive property experience in the cellular industry. Services include site acquisition, permitting and environmental impact assessment

DESIGN SERVICES

Design services include: Design and layout of rooftop and greenfield base station or microwave station sites, site survey site layouts, preparation of site build layouts, detailed design of buildings and structures, engineering checks of existing buildings and structures, design of access roads to base stations and architectural/structural design of MSCs and OMCs. Detailed designs and specifications for standard sites can be provided as a precursor to the procurement exercise associated with an extensive roll-out or to update clients' GSM network records.

SITE CONSTRUCTION (SITE BUILD)

Turnkey site construction for GSM base station and microwave stations. design and installation of foundations for antenna structures, supply and installation of towers and masts, supply and erection of security fence (steel and concrete palisade), site electrical installation (power supply systems), general site civil works, access roads to GSM base stations, RF installation, site documentation and material procurement

CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

Site construction management service can be offered using either client-nominated or Kentz-appointed subcontractors.  This specifically applies where local resources are employed. Kentz construction coordinators have extensive experience in the industry, and many have been seconded to GSM Networks on large-scale roll-out projects throughout the world, where they have had unique opportunities to enhance their expertise. Kentz has proven construction and project management experience in the construction of MSCs and OMCs

EQUIPMENT SHELTER

Supply of equipment shelters to clients' specifications and requirements.  Kentz shelters are assembled, reticulated and fitted to meet client specifications in country.

MAIN SWITCHING CENTRES (MSC)

Design and construction of building structure, including supply and installation of access flooring, security and air-conditioning systems, power supply and power standby units, equipment installation and commissioning.

RADIO FREQUENCY AND RADIO EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION

RF installation services for greenfield installations as well as site upgrades include: supply/install feeder cables/connectors, supply/install jumper cables/fly leads, earthing systems for feeder cables/antenna installations, GSM/MW antennas and feeder sweeps testing and commissioning. Radio Base Station equipment installation and upgrades include installation and commissioning of GSM network equipment and upgrade from 2G to 3G network (UMTS).

Kentz Group has long established agreements with a wide range of international equipment manufacturers and suppliers. This extensive network of contacts supports any project effort. All materials and equipment are procured according to client requirements and specifications or to international accepted standards. Rigorously developed frame agreements, methods of measurement, and subcontract administration procedures ensures cost-effective and affirmable infrastructure development.  Well developed logistic services and procedures ensure that procured materials and equipment are transported and delivered to project warehouses and project sites.
