Telecommunications Systems

We provide engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services for a wide variety of systems used in industrial telecoms. We have broad experience in a variety of telecommunications applications and in particular we specialise in systems integration and solutions to customer specific requirements. We provide both consulting and contracting services from project concept development through to start-up at site. We undertake industrial telecommunications scopes including: advance telecoms systems within the pioneer camp; temporary telecoms systems during early works, site establishment and construction; and permanent telecoms systems for the operating life of a plant or facility.

Industrial Telecoms Applications

Pioneer/Advance Telecoms Systems

Establishing remote greenfield sites is challenging and communicating with the outside world is key. We provide self-contained, field deployable telecommunications solutions designed to suit your requirements – voice, data, video conferencing, location and personal security systems in reliable, plug-and-go packages. These systems are designed to be easy to use and easily maintained in the field.

  • Satellite comms
  • Radio comms
  • Intruder detection
  • Solar power
  • Disel power

Temporary Telecoms Systems

Large construction projects need scalable telecommunications services to meet the needs of the project as the on-site manpower increases and as the project moves from construction mobilisation to peak demand. We understand these requirements and design temporary telecoms systems to handle the peak loading and the transition in a cost-effective manner.  These systems are a critical success factor in any large-scale construction project and we recognise the need for timely and cost-effective execution.

  • Portable access control
  • Trunked/conventional radio
  • Data network
  • Telephone
  • CCTV
  • Intruder detection

Early Works Systems

In the increasingly competitive construction environment some of our customers prefer us to minimise the temporary systems content, focussing instead on the early provision of key permanent telecommunications systems that can be used both for construction and operation. This can be a cost-effective approach if it is carefully planned and executed.  Early works systems must meet the high volume requirements of the construction phase and the longer-term requirements of the operating plant. We can design for these two different operational phases and can provide systems that are up to this challenge.

Permanent Telecoms Systems

Permanent telecommunications systems must be designed to meet the needs of the project, in terms of budget and delivery schedule, as well as the operational needs of the end-user.

We pride ourselves in delivering within the overall context of large construction projects. Timelines, budgets and boundary interfaces are fundamental building blocks in our execution of industrial telecommunications projects.

Specification compliance, operability, reliability and maintainability are key concerns for the end-user.  Beyond delivering the specified physical characteristics of the system, we work with our clients to establish system integration and programming requirements.

We are aware of the local support concerns for the end-user.  During system selection we include warranty and service considerations into the evaluation criteria to ensure customer satisfaction through the warranty period and beyond.

Commercial Telecoms Applications

The trend toward Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) based devices, the proliferation of bandwidth intensive applications and the increased use of wireless technologies have made commercial communications systems simultaneously simpler and more complex.  At the same time, expectations in terms of performance, operator interface and system ergonomics has risen sharply. All of this combines to make commercial communications systems among the most interesting and challenging systems to supply. We excel at providing integrated systems, such as fire detection and voice alarm, to operate alongside a converged data network infrastructure, offering broadband internet, streaming video, voice and data applications. We provide good technical solution, that are cost effective and fit for purpose.

Hospital Applications

Advances in medical imaging and the digitalisation of patient records are contributing to hospitals being increasingly technology driven and the need for systems integration and data traffic is increasing exponentially. In addition to our expertise in the delivery of electrical and mechanical systems within hospitals we are experienced in the delivery of:

  • Fibre and copper cabling networks
  • SAN/data centres
  • Data networks
  • Nurse call/emergency call systems
  • Code blue/code pink systems
  • Security systems included CCTV, access control RFID, anti-abduction and patient wandering systems
  • Patient monitoring
  • Medical equipment interfaces
  • Audio/visual applications
  • Radio and telephony
  • Wireless telephony/staff location systems
  • Fire alarm
  • Public address
  • Parking revenue systems

Accommodation Villages

How do you plan a town for 5,000 to 30,000 people from the ground up in a remote location and ensure that the communications systems are cost-effective and reliable at peak capacity?  We understand that having fit-for-purpose communications can be fundamental to ensuring quality of life and supporting the health and safety of a workforce on remote projects. We provide the full range of residential communications and safety systems required to make life in the village a more positive experience, including:

  • Data transport systems – cabling infrastructure, active data network equipment, SDH/PDH
  • In-room entertainment including satellite TV, gaming, PC and internet access
  • Telephony – analogue, digital, VoIP, GSM, payphone
  • Audio visual installations – cinemas, auditoriums, canteens, recreational facilities
  • Health and safety – fire detection, suppression, public address
  • Security – CCTV, access control perimeter fence sensing systems, microwave intruder detection, vehicle inspection, vehicle ram barriers
  • Other:  meteorological stations, community radio stations, aeronautical and marine VHF

Special Commercial Projects

When the historic rugby stadium at Lansdowne Road in Ireland was up for re-development we were delighted to be awarded the contract for the complete telecommunications systems on the stadium. Many of the telecommunications systems in a sports stadium are identical to other commercial projects. A sporting venue also has its own special applications. The new Aviva Stadium is no exception and combines modern amenities for major sporting events as well as contemporary conferencing facilities.  Special features include:

  • Public address and voice alarm – provision of high quality audio in a 48,000 seater sporting arena was a new acoustic challenge
  • Provision of match and conferencing facilities for fans with hearing and sight disabilities
  • HD television broadcast facilities
  • Television quality stadium lighting systems
  • Live television and radio commentary facilities

Ancillary Services

As a turnkey supplier we can assist our clients in a complete range of ancillary telecommunications requirements to include:

  • Radio communications licensing support
  • Radio type approvals
  • Satellite segment and backhaul arrangements
  • Local support and maintenance contracts
  • Training

In addition to the classic industrial telecommunications systems below, we have expertise in many areas.

  • Marine Systems
  • Security
  • General
  • Transport Applications
