| Description: | To replace obsolete electrical equipment of 1974 vintage on the converters and the associated water plant. The instrumentation equipment was modernised recently, but the scope of the project also includes the provision of some additional instrumentation equipment in order to improve control of the process. |

Scope of Work:
The scope of supply includes design, supply, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of the following aspects:
- 3.3 KV distribution board, including 20 soft starters and 15 transformer feeders
- DC drives for furnace tilting and lowering of lances into the furnace, with emergency battery power backup
- Several motor control centres
- Large PLC system for control of the above as well as solenoids and flow and pressure control of oxygen, nitrogen, cooling, etc.
- Large SCADA system for operation, graphic process monitoring and alarming
- Large communications network system for integrating remote IO and various levels of control
- The PLC, SCADA, networking and power supplies must be done in a safe manner which involves much redundancy, and careful design
- Off-gas analysis instrumentation with very fast response.
