Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Contract
Scope of Work:

Testing and Commissioning of the Electrical and associated Civil scope for the 230kV and 34.5kV Substations at the Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Plant at Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Project Scope included all Electrical works associated Substation 75 (230kV) and Substations 75A and 75B (34.5kV) including the Management of the Substation Safety Tagging & Locking System, Management of all System Turnover Status Databases, As-Built Drawings and Spare Parts Interchange Ability Record’s (SPIR’s) for S.A. Kentz supplied equipment and materials.

Substation 75 scope included 230kV Indoor GIS Switchgear (22 Bays), 230kV GIS Bus Ducts, Local Control Cubicles, Protection and Relay Panels, 230kV Outdoor CVT’s and Surge Arresters, Switchyard Gantries, 280/140/140 MVA, 230/34.5/34.5kV Power Transformers (4No), Neutral Grounding Resistors, Annunciator Panels, 125V DC System, 110V AC UPS Systems, SEC Protection

  • Relays Panels and SEC SCADA System.
  • Substation 75A and 75B scope included 34.5kV Indoor GIS Switchgear, 34.5kV Bus Duct, 4.16 kV Indoor Air Insulated Switchgear, Distribution Transformers 34.5/0.48kV 0.8 ~ 5 MVA, 34.5kV and 4.16kV MV Cabling, 125V DC System, 110V AC UPS Systems, Local Control Cubicles, Annunciator Panels, Protection and Relay Panels.
  • The Substation scope also included 34.5kV MV Cabling, Control and Protection Cabling, Fibre Optic Cabling, Primary & Secondary Cable Support Systems, Grounding & Lightning Protection, HVAC System, Chillers, Substation Lighting, External and Perimeter Lighting, Utility Power, 480V Switchgear and Distribution Boards, Fire and Gas Detection Systems, Plant Telecommunications, Public Address and Telephone System, 4.16kV Diesel Generator Sets, Diesel Tanks, Fuel Piping, Generator Exhaust System, Noise Attenuation and Neutral Grounding Resistors.
  • The Civil scope included a Concrete Encased Duct Bank for Communications and a PVC Coated Galvanised Steel Conduit Duct Bank for Fibre Optical Cable.
  • Kentz were award yet another contract on this site in January 2009. This scope of work is for the Equipment Installations and associated works for the additional five substations on the site.  This includes the main electrical trench cable pulling and civil works under contract modifications.
