Scope of Work:
Waterford Regional Hospital was originally tendered for back in 1983 for an estimated electrical installation of £ 6 Million Irish punts. The project did not commence until 1986 with the first phasing works starting in 1987. It is the largest Hospital in the South east of the country with just over 400 beds to cover patients with approx 5,000 staff and outpatients.
At peak time on this project there was 50 electricians requested to carry out installation in more than 18 different wards with 500 beds through out each having highly services areas.
The Hospital consists of four floor divided into sections:
Level 0: Department of Psychiatry,MRI Unit, Pharmacy, Catering Department, Central Supply Stores, Bio Medical Workshop, Laundry, Boiler House
Level 1:Main Concourse Area, 5 No Out Patients Departments, Renal Dialysis, Cardiac Diagnostic, Accident & Emergency, Staff Restaurant, Pathology , Administration, Admissions, Physical Medicine, Radiology Department, ENT Ward, Orthopedic 1 & 2, District Ward, Pediatric Ward,
Level 2: Pathology, Out Patients Department No 6, 7 & 10, On Call Staff, Education, Staff Changing, Surgical Ward 1 & 2, Post Natal, Anti Natal, Theatres 1-7, CSSD
Level 3: Medical Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5
There are many building services systems consisting of Main and Sub Main Distribution, Emergency Power Distribution, Lighting and Emergency lighting and Street Lighting. Fire Alarm and Ventilation, Intruder Alarm System, Access Control System, CCTV System, Nurse Call System, Gas Detection System, Grounding and Lighting Protection System, TV and Radio System and Mechanical Power, General Services System, IT/Telephone Systems.
2007 / 2008 On Going Projects: Fire alarm Upgrade to L1 system, Cardiac CAT Lab installation, Door access networking upgrade, new car parking facilities, Pathology laboratory extension, ICU upgrade, Flu pandemic ward upgrade, High dependency upgrade, New Medical day room, Neo Natal upgrade, District ward alterations, UPS back up installation, Main HV distribution boards upgrading.
