Safety Achievements
During 2010, Kentz completed over 43 million man-hours across the Group, an increase of 24% from 2009, with a Total Recordable Incident Ratio (TRIR) of 0.17.
Although this is in the top decimal of the industry, our goal is still zero incidents and zero accidents.
We maintain our focus on our near miss reporting and the number of reported near-misses increased by 66%. This programme will continue into 2011.
A few of our 2010 Safety highlights:
- We completed the first shutdown at the ENL facility in Chayvo Sakhalinisk. The shutdown team was awarded the Exxon Neftegas Limited, 2010 Sakhalin 1 Project Contractor of the Year in recognition of excellence in safety.
- In 2010, our project teams on the Shell GTL in Qatar completed over 6.9 million man-hours without a Lost Time Incident (LTI) and in total on the projects to date have completed over 18 million man-hours LTI free since construction work commenced in 2008.
- In Australasia and Thailand, the Specialist EPC Business Unit completed five million man-hours without a LTI on the Gorgon Construction Village Project.
- In Qatar, the Construction Business Unit completed 1 million man-hours without a LTI on the Berth 6 Project and 13 million man-hours were completed without a LTI on the Pearl GTL E&I Utilities Project. The EPC Business Unit in Qatar also completed two million man-hours without a LTI on the Sidra Project
- Elsewhere in the Middle East, in Saudi Arabia the Construction Business Unit completed three million man-hours without a LTI on the Saudi Kayan Projects and in Yemen, the EPC Business Unit completed 1.5 million man-hours without a LTI.
- In Southern Africa, all three business units completed a combined two million man-hours without a LTI in Secunda and in Mozambique, the Construction Business Unit completed one million man-hours without a LTI on the Moatize Coal Project.
A few of our 2009 Safety highlights:
- The total man-hours delivered on Kentz’s projects during 2009 was in excess of 34 million
- On average, the Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) for all of Kentz’s projects was 0.17
- 79% of all of Kentz’s projects were incident and injury free
- 95% of all of Kentz’s projects were completed without a Lost Time Injury (LTI)
- The project team at the OGD III Project in the United Arab Emirates completed over eight million man-hours without a LTI
- The project team at the Pearl GTL E&I Services project in Qatar completed over seven million man-hours without a LTI
- Kentz also produced and rolled-out its own Best Practices DVD. This DVD provides management teams with the knowledge to help keep our projects incident and accident free.
A few of our 2008 Safety highlights:
- The total man-hours delivered on Kentz’s projects during 2008 was in excess of 35 million
- Qatar - completed 6 million man-hours without a LTI
- Saudi Arabia - completed over 15 million man-hours without a LTI
- 30 million man-hours without a LTI on the RasGas Common Offplot and Expansion Phase 2 projects, Qatar
- Two million man-hours without a LTI at Sipchem Port Project in Saudi Arabia
- Wet Plant team on the Madagascar Ilmenite project won the Quarterly Rio Tinto Safety Excellence Award for Overall Performance on Safety and Environmental Aspects
- One million man-hours without a LTI on QMM Ilmenite Project, Madagascar
- One million man-hours without a LTI on the Khurais KUC Project in Saudi Arabia.
