Our History

The business originally commenced operations in 1919 in Ireland as M.F. Kent and has operated internationally since the 1970’s.  In 1994 the company changed its name to Kentz. At this stage, Peremba (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd through its investment company, Kerbet, acquired a 60 per cent. equity stake in the restructured group. The name of the new holding company of the group was subsequently changed to Peremba Kentz Corporation Limited in 1995, and was further changed to Kentz Corporation Limited in 2003. Kerbet had increased its shareholding in Kentz to 90 per cent by 1998.

In 2006, Peremba transferred its beneficial interest in Kerbet to two related companies, beneficially owned by Tan Sri Mohd Razali Abdul Rahman and Hassan Abas. In November 2007, Kerbet reduced its interest in the Company to 80 per cent when Dr. Hugh O’Donnell, the Group’s Chief Executive Officer, acquired a 10 per cent interest in the Company. The remaining 10 per cent was beneficially owned by Thomas Noel Kelly, a Director.

In February 2008, Kentz listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange (symbol: KENZ).  In the year ending December 2008, the company generated revenues of $643.4 million and profit before tax of $40.7 million.
