Our History
Kentz can trace its origins back to 1919 when it started life as a local electrical contractor based in Co. Tipperary, Ireland. It started operating internationally in the late 1970s when it successfully completed a project with Fluor in Saudi Arabia. This provided the launch pad to grow throughout the Middle East and expand its service offerings.
In 1994 Kentz was restructured and a Malaysian investment group, Peremba, took a majority stake in the Group, later appointing Hugh O’Donnell as Chief Executive Officer. Hugh led Kentz through a remarkable period of growth, culminating in the listing of the Company in February 2008 on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange. Kentz progressed onto a premium listing in July 2011 and Christian Brown succeeded Hugh O'Donnell as Chief Executive in February 2012.
Today Kentz has 14,000 employees and operations in 29 countries. It has realigned from regional hubs along three Global Business Units and focuses on providing specialist service solutions to blue chip clients in the oil and gas, petrochemicals and metals and mining sectors. Kentz has built on a strong track record of successful delivery of projects for world’s leading resource clients in some of the most remote locations on earth.
